ORNEC Administration

ORNEC Admin assists the University of Ottawa (Office of the Vice President, Research) in managing ORNEC affairs as per the terms of the agreement between ORDCF and the University of Ottawa (Lead Institution) and the Inter-Institutional Agreement between the University of Ottawa and other Partner Universities. Starting October 01, 2004 the University of Ottawa has contracted ORNEC management to the NCIT (National Capital Institute of Telecommunications). The NCIT (short for NCIT Inc.) is a non-for-profit Corporation that has been for the last few years successfully managing the ORDCF NCIT project supporting research in broadband networking. The core of ORNEC Admin therefore is the NCIT management structure already in place. The President of the NCIT assumed the role and title of ORNEC Executive Director. ORNEC Admin acts as the hub that coordinates all ORNEC technical and financial affairs and connects ORNEC Board and ORNEC Committees with the research offices in member universities and last but not least reporting to MRI (previously ORDCF). Currently ORNEC Admin is structured as follows:

  1. Dr. Robert Crawhall, President of the NCIT and ORNEC Executive Director
  2. Dr. Mohamed Zaid, Senior Consultant, Research at NCIT, ORNEC Research and Scientific Matters
  3. Ms. Hilary Casey, Financial Controller at NCIT, ORNEC Finances

As of June 01, 2006 Management of ORNEC is now transferred to MRI (Ontario Ministry for Research and Innovation)
